An iOS hacker, Pod2g has announced through his blog that he has tested iOS 5.0.1 untethered JailBreak on iPhone 4, iPod 3G, iPad 1, iPod 4G and Apple TV 2 (4.4.3). Fortunately, the userland exploit is working on all of the devices. Previously, he confirmed iOS 5 untethered JailBreak on iPod touch 4G. At the same time, Pod2G said that it might require a bit of an effort for iOS 5.0.1.
Before Pod2g could go ahead and test the same on iPhone 4S and iPad 2, he never owned those devices. Thankfully, some people donated and he has got enough money to buy the devices for him. After the completion of work on A4 based devices, the next step would be an iPhone 4S and iPad 2. We really hope that his exploit should function on A5 devices too. If it happens, this would be the first ever JailBreak for A5 devices on iOS 5.x.x.
Due to the fact that it is a userland based exploit and dependent on some bugs, Apple would fix it in upcoming software update. iOS 5.1 Beta 2 has been seeded to developers few days ago. And it will not take a lot time for the fruit company to release several more betas and ultimately, the final version for everyone in the world. We are not sure when Pod2G would make it public. Though one thing is confirmed that the release is imminent.
